As requested by our readers, today we'd love to share a quick tip on customizing the Dock. Your Dock will become like what's shown on the screenshot…

Used to be a hit amongst Mac users, Dock Changer is the famous name for an application that can provide us simple and convenient interface to change our Dock skin.
One from this kind I use is LeopardDocks. Its ease of use makes the world of Dock customization much more wonderful.

A large collection of Dock skins are available to be downloaded from LeopardDocks.com, but amongst many I like Glossy Black Dock the most, which is uploaded by Daniel Kestler.

Let's begin the tweaking process.
It's that easy.

Cool!!! Thanks =)
You can also do this with the paid application CandyBar. Deviantart* and Macthemes 2* has a wonderful array of docks that -don't- look like a recoloring of the default Leopard Dock.

Thank You very much! true to your word you posted it up :D
AndyM, the .zip file on the site contains 28 different desktops, including the one in the screenshot above.
Hey, this is so niiice!!!!!!!!! But wait a minute...I can't download iit!! It gets cut off every time I'm clicking on the download button!!! How come?!
NEVER MIND!!!!!!!!! OM THIS IS AWESOME! LMAO
Think someone can get the original dock as a download, I accidentally trashed mine lol.
How do you make it into the original Mac OS X Leopard Dock?
guys you dont need to install this program, just go to the system-> library-> coreservices-> dock.app, show package contents-> contents->go to resources, and then paste the files from whichever skin you want, overwriting the original files( which you backed up before, being smart). you need admin rights for that. and whenever you need the original dock back, you only have to paste the backup-ed files back, without the need for additional apps.
To be honest, these new-fangled applications ruin it for me. I like just going into the command-line or system files and customizing them myself there :)
get superdocker its much better than all the other applications i have seen out there so far. It comes with other great features as well. overall a really good app and the best thing is...its free ;)
I am very frustrated. I followed all the instructions, but I can't make it work with my G5 Quad... Please, Help.

Actually it is working right but only when the dock is at the bottom of the screen. It is not working when the dock is on the right or left side of the screen. Isn't there a way to make it work when dock is either on left or right??? And Dimitri is right, as it is why I did. Now, I am going to try Superdocker mentionned by Eddie and hopefully, I will get better results.
Thanks for linking to LeopardDocks.com! New site is on the way so stay tuned. James / Founder LeopardDocks.com
Everything worked out great except the dock has a thin gray line at the very bottom of it...it is hard to notice unless your OCD like me....is there a png file for that little strip or is it permanent?
