I love to use Quick Look and I believe other Mac users also love this nifty Leopard feature. Not only you can save your time previewing your documents with simple Space button but by installing several more QuickLook plugins, you can peek inside your ZIP files.
It's not limited to that, developers nowadays are still under high spirit to create even more powerful plugins to enhance QuickLook feature. Eventually, I hope we can QuickLook every type of files, including DMG files.
Installing QuickLook Plugin
However, you will need to drag and drop your new QuickLook plugin, which comes in bundle *.qlgenerator, into folder Macintosh HD → Library → QuickLook to make it works.
Let's see what are the interesting QuickLook plugins we have here.
BetterZip QuickLook Generator
QuickLook plugin to help you have a preview inside your archived files. This QuickLook plugin supports previewing file format: ZIP, TAR, GZip, BZip2, ARJ, LZH, ISO, CHM, CAB, CPIO, RAR, 7-Zip, DEB, RPM, StuffIt's SIT, DiskDoubler, BinHex, and MacBinary.
This plugin is also empowered with easy to use user interface which helps you easily expand/shrink your folder hierarchy.
QuickLook Adium Chatlog
Sometimes, after finished chatting with our friends, we will want to refer back to our chat logs. Adium saves these chat logs inside Users → [Your UserName] → Library → Application Support → Adium 2.0 → Users → Default → Logs.
Without installing this QuickLook plugin, you will need to open the chat logs with Adium. With this plugin, opening the chat logs is just a single press of Spacebar.
QuickLook Suspicious Package
With this QuickLook plugin installed to your Leopard, you can verify the installer package before you're trying to install it. This is particularly useful for paranoids!
QuickLook Syntax Highlighting
This QuickLook plugin will generate code preview for you along with syntax highlighting, saving you from trouble opening source code files and boredom analyzing monotonous code coloring.
QuickLook for AppleScripts
QuickLook plugins that gives us the ability to Preview AppleScript .scpt files without the need to open Script Editor.
QuickLook Clipped Files
A plugin to help us quickly inspect tons of textClippings or pictClippings with a blazing speed.
