ADVERTISEMENTS

Finally, I've found the evidence! Private Browsing in Safari is Porn Mode in disguise. Now, I know why people choose to use Safari.

Are you curious how to have this Safari? You little perv…

Locate Safari Main Menu

  1. Open Finder, go to Applications Folder
  2. Control-Click on Safari icon and choose Show Package Contents
  3. Go under Contents - Resources - English.lproj
  4. Find MainMenu.nib and open it with Double-Click

Change the Interface

  1. Several icons inside. Open MainMenu
  2. You will see floating menu bar here, Double-Click on the name Private Browsing
  3. Change the label to Porn Mode
  4. Close and Save the File

Relaunch Safari

For the change to take effect, you need to relaunch your Safari. Simply quit it and launch it again.

The next time you launch your Safari, you will have your Safari running in Porn Mode.

I've enjoyed most of your articles, but this one is useless and unnecessary. Get back to work on something useful.

Me.

Ditto. This is just what I call private browsing, seeing it defeats the purpose.

Within MainMenu.nib those files 'MainMenu', 'AppController', etc. aren't shown. I'm pretty sure that to do this this trick you would need to have developer tools installed on leopard, which is an optional installation. Otherwise, you won't be able to do it. Pretty funny stuff though for those who are able to do it.

When I double-click the nib-file, my mac says: "The document "MainMenu.nib" couldnt be opened. Interface Builder cannot open compiled nibs. Try opening the source document instead of the compiled nib." What am I doing wrong? :( MacOs 10.5.4, Developer tools were installed from Leo installation disk

I tried this, my wife saw it, and she beat me senseless. I am now sleeping on the couch every night. I think I like the term "Private Browsing" better -- it is more discreet. Thank you, Apple, for providing this much-needed feature that gives short, bald men a purpose for living.

Now for the opposite of Porn Mode. Is there a way to block website by content filtering? I used to do that with Firefox a long time ago. Say I want to block website or webpages which contain the word "sex" or "lesbian", or whatever. Can it be done ?
