With this Crystal Clear Utility, it's possible to create a translucent window for your Mac.

Not all application can be made translucent, only some of them, such as TextEdit and Adium. Instead of that, this Crystal Clear utility provides us with user-friendly interface where we can easily change opacity settings of our display.

I love this translucent view very much, but my brother cold-heartedly said that it's annoying.
