Inside Adium, you can change your display and can be see by other people. The advantage here is, you can easily change it.

What is display image?

Go under Adium Preference (the keyboard shortcut is ,). Then under Personal tab, click on the Choose Icon button.

After that, you will be given a canvas (as in Photoshop). You can drag and drop your image here, then you can select what part of your image to be displayed.

If you've done on your image, click on Set button to confirm your changes.

Now you can make your masterpiece to display to your friends.
